Friut is a very advanced chess engine written by Fabien Letouzey which can be used as a computer opponent in graphical chess games such as PyChess.

It is very hard to beat even at the "beginner" level.

Versions

Fruit version 2.1 is free and licensed under the GNU GPL. Version 2.2.1 is not free.
