OSCross-platform (KDE)
TypeText editor

KWrite is a simple lightweight text editor designed for the K Desktop Environment (KDE). The actual editor uses KDEs kate editor kpart, which is very powerful.

It has the typical limits such as only being able to open one file pr. window. It does a nice job if you only need to change or view some file.

[edit] KParts technology

KWrite has been using the kate editor component KParts technology to do the actual editing since KDE 3.x. This kpart supports advanced syntax highlighting and is very configurable. You can configure font, schema and so on as you wish and even make it use Vi Editor Mode.
