Radeon 7850, AMD Athlon(tm) 5350 APUs and hardware like that works great with the latest Xorg server combined with MESA on Gentoo.

You will likely want to unmask some stuff and build xorg with the built-in glamor.

/etc/portage/profile/use.mask

-video_cards_radeonsi
-r600-llvm-compiler
-glamor

/etc/make.conf

VIDEO_CARDS="radeon radeonsi r600"

/etc/portage/package.keywords/xorg-x11

<=x11-proto/xproto-7.0.30
<=x11-proto/fontsproto-2.1.3
<=x11-proto/glproto-1.4.17-r1
<=x11-base/xorg-drivers-1.16
<=app-admin/eselect-opengl-1.3.1-r1
<=media-libs/mesa-10.4.10
<=x11-base/xorg-server-1.16.4
<=x11-drivers/xf86-video-ati-7.5.10
<=x11-proto/xproto-7.0.26
<=media-libs/libepoxy-1.2
<=x11-libs/libdrm-2.4.60
<=x11-apps/mesa-progs-8.10.10
<=x11-libs/libXext-1.3.5
<=dev-libs/libevdev-1.3
<=x11-drivers/xf86-input-evdev-2.9.5
<=x11-misc/xkeyboard-config-2.20
<=x11-drivers/xf86-input-keyboard-1.8.0
<=x11-libs/libXfont-1.5.0

Unmerge "x11-libs/glamor" if you have it and emerge the new xorg-server.
