The following information was so hard to figure out that it's almost top-secret. However, now you know:

[edit] How to change the User-Agent string

  1. Visit about:config (type it into the location bar)
  2. Right-click and click New -> String
  3. Enter general.useragent.override as "preference name" and the User-agent you want as "value".
  4. This string can later be changed from about:config

This is very good since it allows you to change the User-Agent for https connections, which filtering proxies like Polipo and Privoxy can't do.
