DV-AVI
From LinuxReviews
DV-AVI, also known as DVSD, is a compressed digital video format with a bitrate of 25 Mbps.
[edit] Compressed
The video is lossy compressed. Half the color information is discarded. Each frame is then compressed using an algorithm that is similar to JPEG.
DV-AVI video files are only slightly smaller than raw DV video files (a test dump gave a 188M RAW DV file and 183M DV-AVI).
[edit] Support
Kino and Cinelerra can (ab)use this video format. The Xine and MPlayer video players can not play DV-AVI, but do play raw AVI.
